The town of Machu Picchu

Located in the narrow valley of the Urubamba River is the town of Machu Oicchu which serves the extraordinary number of tourist who visit each year. There is a well organised aystem of buses which take visitors up the mountain to ancient site. Many enthusiastic, younger and fit people chose to hike up the mountain. The town is centred around the extremely busy train station, which is surrounded by large artisans markets. I would hate to be there in peak tourist season. It would be just so packed. It was busy enough when we were there.
