The blog continues - what an adventure
It was not possible to post anything while we were in Antarctica. We had 10'days on the Le Lyrial, a Ponant cruise boat with just under 200 passengers, 140 crew and a team of naturalists and expedition leaders. We were very lucky with the weather and had smooth crossings of the Drake Passage. We didn't have the "Drake Shake" or the "Drake Lake", but it was very comfortable. In all we had 5 full days of expeditions either in zodiacs, on land or on the ice. The expedition crew and the Captain were very committed to maximising our experience. The Lyrial also achieved the distinction of being the ship which has gone the furtherest south out of thé Ponant fleet as we reached 68 degrees 40 minutes south. There was quite some party on board to celebrate. Kevin and I literally took thousands of photos. Antarctica is the most magical and stunning place.
